K2 Infragen Limited has received a ₹158.58 crore railway electrification contract from Konkan Railway Corporation Limited for infrastructure works related to railway electrification on sections of the Konkan Railway network.

The contract covers the design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of electrification infrastructure, including overhead equipment and associated systems required for railway operations. The project is aimed at strengthening the electrified rail network and enhancing operational efficiency on the route.

Konkan Railway, which connects Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka along India’s western coast, is one of the country’s most strategically important rail corridors. The electrification works are expected to support faster, more efficient and environmentally sustainable train operations while reducing dependence on diesel traction.

The order adds to K2 Infragen’s growing portfolio of railway infrastructure projects and further strengthens the company’s presence in the rail electrification segment. The company has been actively involved in executing projects across power transmission, distribution and railway infrastructure sectors.

Railway electrification remains a key focus area for Indian Railways as it moves towards complete electrification of its broad-gauge network. Ongoing investments in electrification are aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing operating costs and lowering carbon emissions across the railway system.

The latest contract is expected to contribute to the modernization of the Konkan Railway network while supporting broader national objectives related to sustainable transportation and infrastructure development.
