Hindalco Industries Ltd. has approved an investment of ₹768 crore to expand the production capacity of its Kuppam aluminium extrusion facility in Andhra Pradesh by 10 kilo-tonnes per annum (KTPA). The project, scheduled for completion by FY2029, is aimed at meeting rising demand for value-added aluminium products across sectors such as automotive, construction, industrial applications and renewable energy.
The Kuppam plant currently has an installed capacity of 20 KTPA and is operating at 80–85% utilisation, reflecting strong demand for its products. The proposed expansion will increase the facility’s capacity by 50%, enabling Hindalco to strengthen its downstream aluminium business while catering to the growing domestic market. The project will be financed through a combination of internal accruals and debt.
The expansion aligns with Hindalco’s long-term strategy of enhancing its portfolio of value-added aluminium products. The Kuppam unit, acquired as part of the company’s downstream growth strategy, manufactures customised aluminium extrusions for industries including transportation, building and construction, electrical equipment and engineering. The additional capacity is expected to improve the company’s ability to address increasing demand from these high-growth sectors.
The latest investment also complements Hindalco’s broader capital expenditure programme across its aluminium and copper businesses. As India witnesses rising consumption of advanced materials driven by infrastructure development, clean energy, electric mobility and manufacturing, the company continues to expand its downstream footprint to reinforce its leadership in the domestic aluminium industry.
