The Centre has approved ₹840.41 crore for upgrading two sections of National Highway-365BB in Andhra Pradesh into two-lane roads with paved shoulders. The 45.09-km project covers the Buttaigudem–LND Peta and Pattiseema–Kovvur sections and is expected to improve connectivity across the region.
The upgraded highway will strengthen connectivity to the Polavaram Irrigation Project and surrounding villages, while improving the movement of agricultural produce from the region to major markets. The area has significant production of tobacco, sugarcane, palm and aquaculture products, making better road connectivity important for strengthening farm-to-market linkages.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu thanked Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for approving the project. Naidu said the improved road infrastructure would help strengthen trade between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana while supporting faster and safer movement of goods, commuters and tourists.
The project is also expected to improve access to important Godavari River ghats and pilgrimage destinations. With the Godavari Pushkaralu scheduled for 2027, the upgraded road corridor is likely to support smoother movement of devotees and visitors to the region.
Gadkari said the highway upgrade would contribute to the region’s agricultural and economic development by improving transport efficiency and connectivity. The project is expected to benefit farmers, businesses and local communities while supporting tourism and trade activity along the corridor.
The NH-365BB upgrade adds to ongoing efforts to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s road infrastructure and improve connectivity between important irrigation, agricultural, commercial and tourism centres. The project is expected to create a more efficient road network linking the region with wider markets and neighbouring Telangana.
