BEML Limited has received an additional order worth ₹180.60 crore from Integral Coach Factory (ICF) for the manufacturing and supply of Vande Bharat sleeper trainsets.
The state-owned engineering company disclosed the order in a regulatory filing on Wednesday, September 2. The contract has been placed by ICF and covers the manufacture and supply of Vande Bharat sleeper trainsets.
BEML said the order is part of its normal course of business. The company did not disclose the number of trainsets covered under the ₹180.60 crore contract or specify a delivery schedule in the filing.
The latest order adds to BEML’s involvement in the Vande Bharat programme, as Indian Railways expands the train platform beyond the existing chair-car services. The sleeper version is intended for longer-distance and overnight journeys, combining sleeper accommodation with the features of the Vande Bharat train platform.
The order also comes as BEML continues to build its business in the rail and metro segment. The company manufactures rolling stock for Indian Railways and other transport applications, alongside its operations in defence, mining and construction equipment.
BEML is a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Defence and has rail and metro transportation as one of its major business areas. The company’s latest order from ICF further strengthens its order book in the railway manufacturing segment.
