Welspun Corp Ltd is setting up a new wholly owned step-down subsidiary in Jordan to manufacture, process and fabricate iron and steel products, including pipes for water, gas and oil transportation.

The company’s UAE-based wholly owned subsidiary, Welspun Global Holdings Limited, has approved the incorporation of the new entity, which will be named Welspun Pipe Jordan, PSC, or another name approved by the Jordanian authorities. Welspun Global Holdings will hold 100% of the shares in the proposed company, making it a step-down wholly owned subsidiary of Welspun Corp.

The Jordanian entity will undertake manufacturing of wires, tubes and pipes made of iron and steel, along with line pipes and other tubular products used for transporting water, gas and oil. Its activities will also include casting and processing of iron and steel and fabrication of components resulting from casting operations for industrial applications.

The incorporation of Welspun Pipe Jordan is subject to the necessary statutory approvals in Jordan. The investment in the new entity will be made through cash consideration. The company has not disclosed the subscription amount or the exact date of incorporation, with these details expected to be available after the required approvals and registration are completed.

The new manufacturing presence follows Welspun Corp’s recent move to establish a pipe manufacturing and coating platform in Jordan in partnership with Perma-Pipe International Holdings. The partnership is aimed at serving water, oil and gas, energy and infrastructure projects in Jordan and surrounding regional markets.

The Jordan initiative is also linked to the country’s National Water Carrier Project. Welspun Corp and Perma-Pipe had announced plans in September to establish integrated pipe manufacturing and coating facilities in Jordan, with the broader platform intended to support major water and energy projects in the region.

Welspun Corp has been expanding its international manufacturing and project footprint as part of its wider pipe business. The company’s global order book recently reached $4.4 billion, supported in part by a major order of around ₹17,200 crore for pipes from its US manufacturing facility.

The establishment of a local manufacturing entity in Jordan gives Welspun Corp an operating presence closer to projects in the Levant region, while adding manufacturing capabilities for steel pipes and related products used across water, energy and industrial infrastructure.

The proposed subsidiary will therefore form part of Welspun Corp’s broader international manufacturing network, with its operations focused on steel products and tubular solutions for regional infrastructure requirements.
