The upcoming Vadodara Bullet Train Station on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor is set to feature a 534-metre-long Foot Over Bridge (FOB) with travelators, providing direct connectivity between the high-speed rail station, Vadodara Railway Station and the GSRTC Central Bus Depot.

The connectivity plan is aimed at enabling seamless interchange between high-speed rail, conventional railway services and city bus transport. The elevated Bullet Train station is being developed above the existing railway infrastructure, making the integration of different modes of transport a key part of its design.

The 534-metre FOB will be the longest of the three pedestrian bridges planned at the station complex. It will connect the Bullet Train station with Vadodara Railway Station and the GSRTC Central Bus Depot, allowing passengers to move between the different transport facilities without having to make lengthy surface-level transfers.

The bridge will be equipped with travelators to facilitate passenger movement across the long connection. The other two FOBs will provide additional links towards Chhani Road and the Sayaji Rao University side, creating multiple pedestrian access points around the station.

The Vadodara Bullet Train station is being constructed in close proximity to the existing Vadodara railway station and is designed as an elevated facility. The arrangement will allow passengers to transfer between high-speed trains and conventional railway services while retaining connectivity with the city’s existing public transport network.

The station is also being planned with passenger amenities including waiting areas, retail spaces, restrooms and dedicated zones for cars, buses and autorickshaws. A landscaped plaza and clear wayfinding systems are expected to further support passenger movement within the station complex.

Architecturally, the station design draws inspiration from the banyan tree, with an emphasis on an open layout and natural lighting. The design is intended to combine the functional requirements of a high-speed rail facility with passenger comfort and easier movement across different levels of the transport hub.

Vadodara is an important urban, industrial and educational centre in Gujarat, and the integration of the Bullet Train station with the existing railway and bus networks is expected to strengthen its role as a regional interchange point. Improved connections with Ahmedabad, Surat and Mumbai will also provide faster access to major employment, education and business centres.

The station forms part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor being developed by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). The Vadodara station is among the key stations where the high-speed rail network will be integrated with existing transport infrastructure.

The planned multi-modal connectivity at Vadodara is intended to make the Bullet Train station more than a standalone high-speed rail facility by linking it directly with conventional rail and bus services. The three-FOB arrangement, including the 534-metre travelator-equipped bridge, is therefore a significant element of the station’s passenger interchange design.
