UltraTech Cement Ltd. is targeting a captive green power capacity of 2.5–3 GW in the near term as part of its ongoing cost optimisation and sustainability strategy. The company also confirmed that its wires and cables business remains on schedule for a commercial launch in the third quarter of FY27.
Speaking during the company’s earnings call following its Q1 FY27 results, the management said UltraTech’s captive green power capacity has reached around 1.9 GW, and the company intends to expand it further to 2.5–3 GW. The initiative forms part of its broader strategy to improve operational efficiency while maintaining financial discipline.
The company said its net debt-to-EBITDA ratio stood at 0.87x at the end of the June quarter, remaining below its internal threshold of 1x despite ongoing capital expenditure and expansion projects.
UltraTech also reiterated that its entry into the wires and cables segment is progressing as planned. The business, backed by an investment of around ₹1,800 crore, is expected to commence commercial operations in Q3 FY27, marking the company’s expansion into the building products segment beyond cement.
The announcements came as UltraTech reported its strongest-ever first-quarter performance in terms of volume, revenue and EBITDA. The company expects double-digit volume growth in FY27, while continuing to focus on capacity expansion, renewable energy adoption and diversification into adjacent businesses.
