State-owned telecom and digital infrastructure company RailTel Corporation of India Limited has received a ₹29.83 crore order from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for the supply, implementation and maintenance of Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) devices across the oil marketing company’s network.
The contract involves the deployment of SD-WAN technology, which enables centralized network management, improved connectivity and enhanced security across geographically distributed operations. The solution is expected to support HPCL’s digital infrastructure requirements by providing more efficient and reliable communication between its offices, depots, terminals, retail outlets and other operational locations.
According to the company’s regulatory disclosure, the order has been awarded by HPCL and will be executed within the stipulated project timeline. The scope includes supply, installation, configuration, commissioning and ongoing support services for the network infrastructure.
SD-WAN has become a critical technology for large enterprises as it allows organizations to optimize network traffic, improve application performance and reduce operational complexity while supporting cloud-based services and digital transformation initiatives. Energy companies, in particular, are increasingly investing in advanced network solutions to strengthen operational efficiency and cybersecurity.
The latest contract adds to RailTel’s growing portfolio of enterprise ICT, telecom and digital infrastructure projects. Beyond its core railway communication network business, the company has expanded into data centres, cloud services, cybersecurity, smart city projects and enterprise networking solutions for government and corporate clients.
The order reflects continued demand for digital infrastructure modernization across India’s energy sector, where public sector enterprises are investing in advanced communication and information technology systems to support operational excellence and future growth requirements.
For RailTel, the HPCL contract further strengthens its position in the enterprise networking segment and contributes to its order book in the fast-growing digital solutions market.
