Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed infrastructure projects worth more than ₹30,000 crore across Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal during the 52nd meeting of PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation), the Centre’s digital platform for monitoring major public infrastructure and development programmes.
The projects reviewed span the road transport, railway and port sectors, reflecting the government’s continued focus on improving connectivity, logistics efficiency and regional economic development through timely execution of large-scale infrastructure investments.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister assessed the implementation status of key projects and examined issues causing delays, including land acquisition, inter-departmental coordination and statutory clearances. Senior officials from the Centre and state governments participated in the review through the PRAGATI platform, which enables real-time monitoring of strategic projects.
Among the initiatives discussed were highway expansion works, railway infrastructure projects and port-related developments that are expected to strengthen freight movement, improve passenger connectivity and support industrial growth in their respective regions.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need for closer coordination between central ministries, state governments and implementing agencies to ensure projects are completed within stipulated timelines. He also stressed the importance of leveraging technology-driven project monitoring systems to identify bottlenecks at an early stage and accelerate execution.
Since its launch in 2015, PRAGATI has emerged as a key governance mechanism for reviewing major infrastructure projects and resolving implementation challenges. The platform integrates inputs from central ministries, state governments and district administrations, enabling direct oversight of projects that have significant economic and public impact.
Officials indicated that the projects reviewed during the latest meeting are expected to improve regional connectivity, facilitate trade and logistics operations and support broader economic activity across the four states. Several of the projects form part of India’s larger infrastructure modernisation programme covering highways, railways, ports and multimodal transport networks.
The review comes amid sustained government efforts to fast-track infrastructure creation under initiatives such as PM Gati Shakti and the National Infrastructure Pipeline, both of which aim to improve connectivity and enhance India’s long-term economic competitiveness.
The 52nd PRAGATI meeting underscored the Centre’s continued focus on monitoring high-value infrastructure projects and ensuring that critical investments move from planning to execution without prolonged delays.
