Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Limited is targeting cement manufacturing capacity of 35 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by FY28, as it continues to expand its operations through acquisitions, new facilities and capacity enhancement projects. The company, which began operations with a 2 MTPA greenfield plant in Rajasthan in 2014, has developed into a diversified building materials manufacturer with a growing presence across India’s cement market.

The company’s expansion journey has included acquisitions and investments that have broadened its manufacturing footprint. In 2016, Nuvoco acquired Lafarge India’s cement business, followed by the acquisition of Emami Cement in 2020, now operating as NU Vista Limited. It entered the stock market in 2021 and further strengthened its position in western India through the acquisition of Vadraj Cement in April 2025.

Nuvoco currently operates 14 manufacturing units with cement capacity of approximately 27 MTPA, according to the company’s latest reported profile in the October 12 update. Its operations extend across cement, ready-mix concrete (RMX) and modern building materials (MBM), giving it a broader portfolio that includes cement products, concrete solutions and construction materials. The company also operates 58 ready-mix concrete plants.

The planned expansion to 35 MTPA by FY28 will be supported by projects at its Vadraj Cement facilities in Gujarat and capacity enhancement initiatives in eastern India. At Vadraj, the Limla grinding facility in Surat has added 2 MTPA of grinding capacity, while further work at Kutch is progressing towards phased operationalisation. The company has also been upgrading existing plants to increase output without relying entirely on new greenfield facilities.

In eastern India, Nuvoco has been pursuing a 4 MTPA grinding-capacity expansion through a new mill at its Arasmeta Cement Plant and debottlenecking projects at Jojobera, Panagarh and Odisha. The expansion is designed to strengthen its regional supply network and increase its ability to serve markets across eastern Madhya Pradesh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha.

The company is also investing in distribution infrastructure to improve access to regional markets. A bulk cement terminal at Sachana, near Viramgam in Gujarat, has been approved with a planned handling capacity of approximately 1.5 MTPA and a dedicated railway siding. Targeted for commissioning by FY28, the facility is expected to support the unloading, storage and dispatch of both loose and packed cement.

Nuvoco reported total income of ₹11,362 crore for FY26, while its cement sales volume reached 20.4 million tonnes, representing year-on-year growth of 5%. EBITDA increased by 35% to ₹1,881 crore, and profit after tax rose to ₹360 crore from ₹22 crore in FY25. The company has indicated that operational improvements, premium products and cost optimisation have contributed to its financial performance.

The company’s next phase of growth will involve balancing capacity expansion with operational efficiency, product development and stronger market reach. Its portfolio includes ordinary Portland cement, Portland slag cement, Portland pozzolana cement and Portland composite cement, alongside ready-mix concrete and modern building materials such as construction chemicals, tile adhesives and waterproofing solutions.

Nuvoco’s stated target of 35 MTPA by FY28 represents a significant increase from its current reported capacity of 27 MTPA. Delivery will depend on the timely commissioning of expansion projects, integration of acquired assets and execution of plant upgrades across its manufacturing network.
