Nitish Kumar Unveils 535 Projects Worth ₹895 Crore in Purnia and Katihar During Samriddhi Yatra

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled 535 development projects worth around ₹895 crore in the districts of Purnia and Katihar as part of his Samriddhi Yatra, aimed at accelerating infrastructure and civic development in the Seemanchal region.

In Purnia, projects worth ₹485 crore were launched, including the inauguration of 84 schemes valued at ₹164 crore and the foundation laying for around 10 projects worth ₹321 crore. These initiatives include road development works, strengthening of key urban routes and improvements in public infrastructure.

Major works inaugurated in the district include the two-lane road connecting State Highway-60 to Puran Devi Temple and the strengthening of the road from Line Bazar Chowk to Polytechnic Chowk via Rajni Chowk, aimed at improving urban connectivity and easing traffic movement.

In Katihar, the Chief Minister launched projects worth ₹410 crore, including the inauguration of 257 schemes costing ₹229 crore and the foundation laying for 186 projects worth ₹181 crore. The initiatives also include infrastructure upgrades such as the renovation and construction of the Agricultural Production Market Yard (Phase-2) and improvements in local civic amenities.

The projects focus primarily on road connectivity, civic infrastructure, agricultural facilities and urban development, with the objective of strengthening economic activity and improving living standards in northeastern Bihar. Officials said the initiatives are part of a broader development push to transform the Seemanchal region into a stronger commercial and connectivity hub.

During the visit, the Chief Minister also reviewed ongoing development works and interacted with local officials, emphasising timely completion of projects to ensure maximum benefits for residents and regional economic growth.
