Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, laid the foundation stone for three major national highway projects in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, marking a significant step toward improving road safety and connectivity in the state.
The new projects are designed to reduce traffic congestion, shorten travel times, and make journeys safer for commuters as well as transporters.
The first project involves the four-laning of the Amazhar–Barela section, part of the Jabalpur Ring Road, covering nearly 18 kilometers. This stretch will help divert heavy vehicles away from city areas, easing traffic pressure within Jabalpur and minimizing accident risks.
The second project focuses on the Rewa–Maihar–Katni stretch of NH-30, where seven underpasses will be built at key points, including Amarpatan–Satna Link Road and Maihar City Entry. The initiative will improve safety on one of the busiest corridors of the region.
The third project includes the construction of six flyovers and underpasses on the Katni–Jabalpur–Lakhnadon section of NH-30/34. These interventions at junctions such as Barna Tiraha, Sihora Bypass, and Panagar Bypass aim to reduce congestion and eliminate accident-prone spots.
Speaking at the event, Gadkari said the projects are part of the ‘Pragati Ka Highway’ initiative, aimed at providing Madhya Pradesh with world-class road infrastructure. He highlighted that the upgrades will not only benefit local commuters but also boost economic activity and regional trade.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways noted that these projects complement the broader push to strengthen road networks in the state, alongside several other initiatives worth thousands of crores announced recently.
With these developments, Madhya Pradesh is set to witness safer highways, faster mobility, and stronger regional connectivity in the coming years.
