Larsen & Toubro’s Transportation Infrastructure business vertical has formally executed two contracts from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) for the development of the Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor. The contracts comprise one large and one significant project.

The first contract covers the development of a new road connecting Al Khail Road with the extension of Latifa Bint Hamdan Street. The scope includes construction of bridges, tunnels and associated road works.

The project is aimed at improving connectivity between Al Khail Road, Latifa Bint Hamdan Street and Al Meydan Street, while providing improved access to development areas in the vicinity.

The second contract covers the development of sections of Al Meydan Street. The work includes construction of a new interchange and associated at-grade roads to serve development projects in the area and improve traffic movement.

The scope also includes a new cycling track that will connect with Dubai’s existing cycling network. The track will contribute to an integrated cycling route extending from Al Qudra to Jumeirah.

Both projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028. Once the works are completed, the overall Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor will extend approximately 12 km.

The corridor will strengthen connections between several of Dubai’s major road corridors, including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road.

The completed corridor is expected to accommodate around 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions and more than 130,000 trips per day. It is also projected to reduce the travel time between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road from 33 minutes to 15 minutes.

According to L&T’s order classification, the two contracts fall into the ‘Large’ and ‘Significant’ categories. The company has not disclosed the exact contract values. The first contract is classified as a large order, while the second falls under the significant order category.

The latest contracts add to L&T’s transportation infrastructure work in the Middle East, covering road, bridge, tunnel, interchange and cycling infrastructure as part of Dubai’s wider road network development.
