The Union Cabinet has approved a new set of railway infrastructure projects worth over ₹12,300 crore, marking a major boost for connectivity and regional development in Karnataka, Telangana, Bihar, Assam, and Gujarat.
The approved projects are designed to strengthen passenger services, ease freight movement, and modernize facilities, ultimately driving economic growth and job creation in these states.
Government officials highlighted that the initiatives will focus on expanding capacity, enhancing safety, reducing travel time, and supporting industrial & agricultural hubs. These developments are expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment opportunities, while also boosting regional trade and logistics efficiency.
This move is part of the Centre’s broader strategy to modernize India’s transport infrastructure, ensuring faster growth and improved connectivity across the country.
