JSW Infrastructure Limited has secured the Letter of Award for the reconstruction and mechanisation of Berth No. 8 at Netaji Subhas Dock of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, further expanding its footprint in India’s maritime and logistics sector.

The project has been awarded on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis under the public-private partnership model. The concession period is 30 years, during which JSW Infrastructure will develop, operate, maintain, and manage the container terminal.

The company plans to invest approximately ₹740 crore in the project. Once operational, the modernised terminal is expected to significantly enhance container-handling capacity at Netaji Subhas Dock and improve cargo movement through eastern India’s principal riverine port system.

The redevelopment will include the mechanisation of berth infrastructure and deployment of modern cargo-handling equipment aimed at improving productivity, reducing vessel turnaround time, and increasing operational efficiency.

The terminal is expected to strengthen trade connectivity for eastern and northeastern India while supporting growing container traffic through the Kolkata-Haldia port complex. The project also aligns with ongoing efforts to modernise port infrastructure and improve logistics efficiency across the country.

For JSW Infrastructure, the award represents another strategic addition to its growing portfolio of ports and terminals. The company has been expanding its presence across key maritime gateways as part of its long-term growth strategy in the ports, logistics, and supply chain sector.

Following the announcement, JSW Infrastructure’s shares gained nearly 5 per cent, reflecting positive investor sentiment towards the company’s latest port expansion initiative.

The project is expected to reinforce the role of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port as a key trade gateway on India’s eastern coast while enhancing container-handling capabilities to meet future cargo growth requirements.
