Hyderabad commuters can now use a single pass for travel on Hyderabad Metro and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) city buses, following the launch of an integrated common pass by the Telangana government.
The common pass was launched by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka along with Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. The initiative is aimed at making daily and monthly travel across Metro Rail and RTC bus services more convenient and improving public transport connectivity within Hyderabad.
The one-day common pass has been priced at ₹400, while the monthly pass costs ₹8,500. The daily pass includes ₹300 for Metro travel and ₹100 for TGSRTC services. The monthly pass comprises ₹7,000 for Metro travel and ₹1,500 for RTC bus services.
A refundable security deposit of ₹100 is charged for the common card. The card is issued at Hyderabad Metro Rail ticketing counters and the monthly pass remains valid for 30 calendar days, while the one-day pass is valid for the calendar day on which it is purchased or recharged.
The common pass permits unlimited travel on Hyderabad Metro and eligible TGSRTC city bus services during their respective operating hours. It is applicable to TGSRTC city buses operating within the Outer Ring Road limits, while Pushpak airport services are excluded.
The initiative brings two major public transport systems under a single ticketing arrangement, allowing commuters who depend on both buses and Metro services during their daily journeys to use one common card. The government has said the move is part of wider efforts to make public transport more accessible and address traffic congestion in the city.
Prabhakar said the government is also working towards integrating different modes of public transport through technology. The longer-term plan includes bringing RTC, Metro and auto-rickshaw services onto a common digital platform, with discussions with auto-rickshaw drivers’ unions to be held before further integration.
Alongside the common pass, TGSRTC has introduced the MeeTicket mobile application for digital bus ticketing. Passengers can select their boarding and destination points, choose the ticket type, make digital payments and use a dynamic QR code for verification during their journey.
The app also offers a digital weekly bus pass priced at ₹600, providing unlimited travel on eligible TGSRTC buses for seven days. Daily and monthly bus passes can also be purchased and renewed through the digital platform.
The launch comes as Hyderabad continues to see large-scale infrastructure development. Vikramarka said infrastructure projects worth ₹52,000 crore are progressing across the city, including works worth ₹35,000 crore within Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority limits covering roads, flyovers and bridges. Other development works are being undertaken by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and Hyderabad Water Works Board.
The state government said the integrated ticketing system is part of its broader public transport plans, with the focus on improving connectivity and making journeys across different modes of transport more seamless for commuters.
