Hindustan Power Secures SECI Award for 150 MW Solar Project with 300 MWh Battery Storage

Hindustan Power awarded SECI solar project with 150 MW capacity and 300 MWh battery energy storage, strengthening India’s renewable-energy transition and grid stability.
Hindustan Power has secured a SECI award for developing a 150 MW solar project paired with 300 MWh of battery storage, enhancing India’s renewable reliability and grid flexibility.

Hindustan Power has won a significant tender from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop a large-scale renewable energy project integrating solar generation with battery storage. The award includes 150 MW of contracted solar capacity, supported by an installation plan of around 300 MWp of solar modules and a 300 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

The project was awarded under SECI’s ‘ISTS–XX’ tender, which focuses on Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar projects paired with energy storage solutions. Hindustan Power secured the bid through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, followed by an e-Reverse Auction conducted on the ETS platform. The flexible nature of the project allows it to be developed at suitable locations across the country.

According to Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, the project aligns with the company’s long-term strategy of expanding flexible, storage-enabled renewable assets. He noted that the initiative supports India’s transition toward a cleaner, more resilient energy ecosystem. “Our focus is on delivering stable, efficient, and future-ready infrastructure that strengthens the nation’s clean-energy transition,” he said.

The integration of solar generation with a 300 MWh BESS will enable greater grid stability, better peak-hour power management, and improved reliability of renewable supply. As India steps up deployment of hybrid and storage-backed solar projects, this development further strengthens Hindustan Power’s renewable portfolio.

The company is currently advancing several clean-energy projects nationwide. These include a 435 MW solar project in Uttar Pradesh, a 100 MW solar plant with an accompanying 100 MW BESS in Assam, and a 120 MWh storage project in Bihar. Hindustan Power has also recently secured a contract from SJVN Limited to build a 100 MW solar installation paired with 200 MWh of battery storage.

Together, these initiatives underscore the company’s commitment to expanding India’s renewable capacity while supporting national goals for sustainability, energy security, and modern grid infrastructure.
