GAIL, KABIL Sign MoU to Collaborate on Critical and Strategic Minerals

GAIL (India) Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khanij Bidesh India Ltd. (KABIL) to collaborate in the field of critical and strategic minerals, as part of efforts to strengthen India’s long-term resource security and support the country’s clean energy transition.

The agreement provides a framework for the two public sector companies to identify and evaluate opportunities in critical and strategic minerals. It also envisages the exchange of technical expertise, capacity-building initiatives and joint efforts across the mining value chain to help secure a reliable supply of these vital resources for the country.

The MoU was signed by Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Director (R&D and E&P), GAIL, and Sunil Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer, KABIL, in the presence of R.K. Singhal, Director (Business Development), GAIL, along with senior officials from both organisations.

GAIL (India) Ltd., a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has operations across the natural gas value chain, including transmission and marketing, LNG sourcing and regasification, LPG transmission, petrochemicals, city gas distribution, renewable energy, and upstream exploration and production.

KABIL is a joint venture of National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO), Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL) and Mineral Exploration & Consultancy Ltd. (MECL) under the Ministry of Mines. It was established to identify, acquire, develop and secure overseas critical and strategic mineral assets to support India’s long-term economic growth, industrial development and energy transition.
