India’s Bullet Train Project accelerates as the first 40-metre girder is launched in Maharashtra, marking a major milestone in the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor.

India’s ambitious Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project has reached a major milestone with the successful launch of the first 40-metre full-span girder in Maharashtra.

The girder, weighing over 900 tonnes, was installed on the high-speed rail corridor, marking an important step in the civil construction phase of the project. According to officials, this achievement showcases the use of advanced engineering techniques and heavy-lifting equipment tailored for high-speed rail infrastructure.

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is spearheading the project, stated that the launch of the girder demonstrates steady progress on the Maharashtra section, complementing the ongoing works in Gujarat.

Once completed, the Mumbai Ahmedabad Bullet Train will reduce travel time between the two cities from over six hours to just about two hours, offering a sustainable, efficient, and world-class mode of transport.

This development comes as the project accelerates ahead of its targeted timelines, with multiple bridges, viaducts, and station works progressing simultaneously across the corridor.
