Ashoka Buildcon Limited has secured a ₹602.16 crore contract, including GST, from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for the execution of electro-mechanical works for four tunnels under the Rishikesh–Karnprayag New Broad Gauge Rail Line Project in Uttarakhand. The company received the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from RVNL for the project, with the order awarded through a percentage-rate bidding process.
The contract covers Package-3 under Package E-4 of the rail project and involves the supply, erection, testing and commissioning of electro-mechanical systems for Tunnels T-13, T-14, T-15 and T-16. Ashoka Buildcon’s scope includes the installation of 33/11 kV and 11/0.433 kV GIS substations, high-tension and low-tension cables, diesel generator sets, lighting systems, UPS systems, ventilation systems and fire-fighting systems, along with other associated works required for the tunnels.
The project has a completion period of 30 months from the date of commencement. As part of the contractual requirements, Ashoka Buildcon will also be required to submit a performance bank guarantee of ₹25.51 crore to RVNL. The project carries a defect liability period of two years
The order is a domestic contract and forms part of the ongoing development of the Rishikesh–Karnprayag New Broad Gauge Rail Line, a major railway infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity in Uttarakhand. The latest award further expands Ashoka Buildcon’s presence in the railway infrastructure segment, alongside its established activities in roads, power transmission and other infrastructure projects.
The contract also adds to the company’s order activity during the current financial year. Ashoka Buildcon had an order book of around ₹15,251 crore at the end of Q1 FY27, excluding orders secured subsequently, with railway projects accounting for a portion of its overall infrastructure portfolio.
