Allcargo Logistics Increases Festive Workforce by 20% to Handle Surge in Demand

Allcargo Logistics is scaling up its operations ahead of the upcoming festive season, increasing its workforce by 20 per cent to around 9,000 employees across its two businesses as it prepares for a sharp rise in retail and e-commerce volumes. The company expects festive demand to put significant pressure on logistics networks, particularly across fulfilment, warehousing and last-mile delivery operations.

The workforce expansion is aimed at ensuring adequate operational capacity during the peak festive period, when higher consumer spending and increased e-commerce activity typically translate into a substantial rise in shipment volumes. Allcargo is strengthening manpower across key operational functions to maintain service levels and manage the anticipated increase in orders.

The company’s festive preparedness is focused on creating greater flexibility across its logistics network. Additional manpower will help support warehouse operations, order processing, transportation and delivery activities as businesses across retail and e-commerce sectors prepare for the seasonal demand surge.

The move comes amid expectations of strong growth in festive consumption, with logistics and supply-chain companies increasingly expanding their workforce, warehousing capacity and technology infrastructure to manage sudden spikes in shipment volumes. Allcargo Supply Chain had earlier highlighted plans to use a centralised monitoring system and flexible resource deployment to respond quickly to demand fluctuations across locations.

The company’s preparations also reflect the growing importance of e-commerce, quick commerce and direct-to-consumer (D2C) businesses in India’s festive consumption cycle. Logistics providers are increasingly required to handle higher shipment volumes while maintaining faster delivery timelines and consistent service across both metropolitan and Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets.

The workforce expansion is therefore expected to provide Allcargo with additional operational bandwidth during the peak season and strengthen its ability to manage the higher volumes generated by India’s increasingly digital and consumption-driven retail ecosystem.
