Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited has secured a 10-year logistics and port services contract for Argentina’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project, marking the company’s entry into South America and a significant expansion of its international port operations.
The contract is linked to the development of Argentina’s maiden LNG export initiative, which aims to monetise the country’s vast shale gas reserves and establish it as a major LNG exporter in the global energy market. Under the agreement, Adani Ports will provide integrated marine and logistics services to support the project’s export operations.
The project is expected to play a crucial role in enabling LNG exports from Argentina, which possesses some of the world’s largest unconventional gas resources, particularly in the Vaca Muerta shale formation. The initiative is being viewed as a strategic step towards strengthening the country’s energy export capabilities and attracting long-term investments into its hydrocarbon sector.
For Adani Ports, the contract represents its first major venture in South America and further strengthens its growing international presence. The company has been expanding beyond India through investments and operational partnerships across key global maritime and logistics markets.
The long-term agreement is expected to provide operational support for LNG handling and export activities while contributing to the development of critical energy infrastructure associated with the project.
The win also reflects the increasing role of Indian infrastructure and logistics companies in global energy and maritime projects. As demand for LNG continues to grow across international markets, large-scale export infrastructure projects are attracting significant participation from global port and logistics operators.
The Argentina project is expected to emerge as a key component of the country’s energy export strategy, with LNG shipments targeted at international markets seeking diversified sources of natural gas supply.
