Bhopal’s much-awaited metro project is moving closer to its commercial launch, with officials preparing for a crucial safety review ahead of the planned inauguration in October. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) is set to carry out inspections in two separate phases to ensure the system meets all required standards before opening to the public.
According to project authorities, the inspection will focus on key operational aspects including track alignment, signaling, rolling stock, and passenger safety protocols. The two-stage review will allow the CMRS to evaluate technical readiness and address any final adjustments needed for smooth operations.
The Bhopal Metro, part of Madhya Pradesh’s integrated urban transport plan, is expected to ease congestion and provide a modern, eco-friendly mode of travel for the city’s residents. Once operational, the metro will significantly reduce travel time across key corridors and contribute to lowering vehicular pollution.
Officials expressed confidence that the metro will be ready for the scheduled launch, marking a major milestone in the city’s infrastructure development.
