Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT), a global leader in the Off-Highway tyre industry and an emerging player in India’s on-highway tyre market, has strengthened its Commercial Vehicle Radial (CVR) presence in Tamil Nadu with the inauguration of a new 10,000 sq. ft. distribution facility in Sankagiri, Salem. Operated by authorised distributor Sri Jayanthi Roadways, the facility will enhance availability of BKT Tyres CVR tyres portfolio across eight key markets including Salem, Sankagiri, Namakkal, Erode, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Karur, while supporting closer engagement with fleet operators and channel partners. The initiative reinforces BKT Tyres’ focus on strengthening its presence in the commercial vehicle segment and advancing its ‘Elevate Your Drive’ proposition.
Tamil Nadu is among India’s most economically significant states and a key contributor to the country’s industrial, logistics and transportation sectors. The state’s extensive road infrastructure, high freight movement and well-developed commercial transport ecosystem make it one of the most strategic markets for the commercial vehicle tyre segment.
Strategically positioned in Sankagiri, a major trucking and logistics hub, connecting Salem, Coimbatore and Kerala support freight movement across India, and the new facility reinforces BKT Tyres’ commitment to expanding its commercial vehicle tyre business in high-potential transport markets. The hub will serve as a key touchpoint for fleet operators, dealers, and channel partners while strengthening BKT’s physical availability in the region.
As part of the inauguration, BKT Tyres hosted a Partner Connect programme bringing together dealers, fleet operators and representatives from the regional transport ecosystem. The event on 23rd September 2026, also witnessed the symbolic flag-off ceremony for seven commercial vehicles fitted with BKT tyres, showcasing the company’s growing footprint in the state’s CVR market. Participation from the Sankagiri Lorry Owners Association (SLOA), representing more than 3,300 members, further highlighted the significance of the initiative for the local transport community.
The inauguration brought together BKT leadership, channel partners and prominent representatives, including BKT’s Mr. Satish Sharma, Senior President and Director – Business Development and Strategy, Mr. Amitkumar Agarwal, National Sales Head, Commercial Vehicle Radial Tyres, among others. The occasion was graced by eminent officials including Mr. N R S (a) N Kandhasamy, President, Sankagiri Lorry Owners Association (SLOA), Mr. P Shanmugam, President, Sankagiri Taluk Bus Owner’s Association, alongside members of the regional transport and fleet community.
