VA Tech WABAG Ltd. has secured two ‘Large’ domestic orders from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), with a combined value of nearly ₹600 crore, for the development of advanced wastewater treatment facilities in Bengaluru. The projects are aimed at strengthening the city’s sewage treatment capacity while promoting water reuse and energy-efficient operations.
The first order involves the design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of a 100 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and a 25 MLD Tertiary Treatment Plant (TTP) at Byramangala. The scope also includes design-build-operation (DBO) services and the installation of biogas-based power generation systems to improve energy efficiency. The tertiary treatment facility will be equipped with ultrafiltration technology to produce high-quality treated water suitable for discharge into nearby water bodies.
The second contract covers the development of a 60 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Bellandur, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and long-term operation. WABAG noted that it had successfully executed the first phase of the Bellandur project and has now been entrusted with the second phase, further strengthening its association with BWSSB.
The sewage treatment plants will adopt the Activated Sludge Process (ASP) integrated with Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) technology, enabling efficient wastewater treatment while meeting stringent environmental standards. The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) phase of both projects is expected to be completed within 36 months, followed by seven years of operation and maintenance (O&M) by WABAG.
Commenting on the order wins, Rajiv Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director, VA Tech WABAG, said the repeat orders reaffirm the confidence placed in the company by BWSSB and underscore WABAG’s expertise in delivering sustainable and energy-efficient water infrastructure solutions. He added that the projects will contribute to Bengaluru’s efforts to enhance wastewater recycling, improve urban water management and build resilient water infrastructure for the future.
