Uttar Pradesh is stepping up its efforts to attract Japanese manufacturing investment, with the state pitching a proposed 500-acre “Japan City” near Noida International Airport as projects worth a combined ₹3,191 crore by Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation take shape in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region.
The proposed Japan City is planned as a dedicated industrial ecosystem for Japanese companies, their suppliers and ancillary businesses. The development is intended to bring manufacturing units and supporting industries together within an integrated cluster, helping strengthen supply chains and encourage technology partnerships.

The proposal was highlighted during the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026, which is bringing more than 200 Japanese industrialists, business leaders, executives and policymakers to discussions on investment and industrial cooperation. The programme is being held from August 18 to 23 across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The investment push is already translating into projects on the ground. Escorts Kubota is developing a manufacturing facility in YEIDA’s Sector 10 with a proposed investment of around ₹2,025 crore. The project is expected to create more than 3,800 jobs and is part of the company’s broader expansion plans in the state. Minda Corporation, meanwhile, has proposed two projects in YEIDA’s Sectors 10 and 24 involving a combined investment of around ₹1,166 crore. Together, the projects are projected to generate approximately 6,440 employment opportunities.

Combined, the three projects represent an investment pipeline of ₹3,191 crore and could generate more than 10,000 jobs, providing a significant boost to the manufacturing ecosystem emerging around the Yamuna Expressway corridor.

The location is strategically important. The proposed Japan City is being positioned close to Noida International Airport, while the wider YEIDA region is developing into a major industrial and logistics zone. Better air connectivity, expressway access and planned infrastructure are expected to strengthen the area’s appeal for export-oriented manufacturing.

For Escorts Kubota, the planned facility will support its ambitions in the tractor and construction-equipment markets. The company is targeting stronger production capabilities in India, with the Jewar investment forming part of its strategy to expand manufacturing and pursue growth in both domestic and export markets.

Minda’s expansion adds another layer to the automotive manufacturing ecosystem. Its proposed investments are focused on components including ignition switch-cum-steering locks, mechatronic components and connection systems, strengthening the supply base for the automotive industry in the region.

The Japan City concept is designed to go beyond individual factories. By bringing manufacturers, component suppliers and ancillary industries into a common industrial cluster, Uttar Pradesh aims to create a more integrated manufacturing ecosystem with shorter supply chains and greater opportunities for collaboration.

The state is also using its engagement with Japan to pursue investments beyond automobiles and conventional manufacturing. Discussions are covering semiconductors, electric mobility, green hydrogen, renewable energy, advanced materials and digital infrastructure, indicating a broader effort to diversify Japanese investment into emerging sectors.

The initiative also fits into Uttar Pradesh’s larger strategy of leveraging its workforce, industrial land and expanding connectivity to attract global manufacturers. The state government has emphasised the combination of Japanese manufacturing practices including lean manufacturing, automation, robotics and precision engineering with Uttar Pradesh’s growing industrial base.

If implemented as planned, the Japan City could become an important node in the state’s evolving manufacturing landscape, while the Escorts Kubota and Minda projects provide an early indication of the type of industrial activity Uttar Pradesh hopes to attract.

The broader objective is clear: to turn the YEIDA corridor into a concentrated manufacturing and supply-chain destination for Japanese and other global companies, using infrastructure, connectivity and an integrated industrial ecosystem to support long-term investment.
