The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated ₹750 crore in its latest state budget for the expansion of Noida International Airport, kick-starting plans to develop the facility into a major aviation and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) hub. The funding boost is aimed at accelerating multi-phase infrastructure development and enhancing the airport’s capacity to support growing passenger and cargo demand.
The watershed budgetary support follows a series of strategic decisions by state authorities to position Noida International Airport as a key driver of economic growth in western Uttar Pradesh. The investment will help fund priority works under the airport’s phased expansion blueprint, including runway augmentation, terminal upgrades, cargo infrastructure and specialised aviation support facilities.
Officials said the ₹750 crore allocation demonstrates the state’s commitment to fostering a robust aviation ecosystem that can generate employment, attract private investment and bolster connectivity with domestic and international destinations. As part of the broader vision, the airport is also being developed with dedicated facilities to support aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul operations, a segment that industry analysts regard as having strong growth potential.
Noida International Airport, located in the Jewar region of Greater Noida, is expected to serve as a major air traffic gateway for the National Capital Region (NCR) and Uttar Pradesh. Its strategic location and planned infrastructure make it well-placed to decongest existing airports in Delhi and support the expansion of both passenger and freight services in the years ahead.
The multi-phase expansion plan envisages staged enhancements in capacity and facilities, aligning with projected growth in air travel demand. In addition to aeronautical infrastructure, the project blueprint includes the development of aviation-related business parks, logistics zones and support services that can spur economic activity in the region.
The budgetary allocation is expected to provide impetus to ongoing preparatory works, including land development, regulatory clearances and tendering processes for key contracts. Enhanced funding is also likely to strengthen confidence among domestic and global investors exploring opportunities in the aviation sector.
With this focused investment, Uttar Pradesh aims to accelerate the transformation of Noida International Airport into a world-class aviation node that can cater to increasing mobility needs while contributing to the state’s long-term economic and employment objectives.
