A major engineering breakthrough has been achieved at the under-construction Dibang Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in the development of one of India’s largest hydroelectric facilities.

Project authorities announced that the breakthrough typically referring to the successful connection of tunnel excavations from both ends has been completed as part of the civil works for the hydropower project. This critical link enhances confidence in the pace of construction and underlines the technical capabilities driving the complex infrastructure initiative.

The Dibang Hydel Project, located in the Lower Dibang Valley district, is designed as a 2,880-megawatt run-of-the-river hydroelectric plant, aimed at harnessing the energy potential of the Dibang River. Once completed, it is expected to significantly augment the country’s renewable energy capacity and contribute to long-term grid stability.
