UltraTech Cement Limited has strengthened its sustainable logistics initiatives by inducting India’s first electric heavy-duty truck certified under the PM E-DRIVE scheme into its transport fleet. The vehicle has been supplied by Montra Electric, the electric mobility arm for medium and heavy commercial vehicles under the Murugappa Group.
UltraTech has been at the forefront of adopting cleaner freight solutions within the cement sector. The company began integrating CNG-powered trucks into its logistics operations in 2021, expanded the use of LNG trucks in 2022, and added electric trucks to its fleet in 2024. These measures reflect a phased transition away from conventional diesel vehicles, supported by close coordination with logistics partners.
Currently, UltraTech operates more than 540 CNG trucks, around 60 LNG trucks, and over 15 electric trucks across 17 manufacturing units. The induction of a PM E-DRIVE-certified electric heavy-duty truck further underlines the company’s commitment to reducing transport-related emissions while building a more efficient and future-ready logistics network.
