BEML showcases advanced construction and mining equipment with AI, IoT and electric solutions at EXCON 2025
BEML highlights future-ready construction and mining equipment with digital intelligence, electrification, and indigenous engineering at EXCON 2025.

The mining and construction sectors are transforming quickly, and the shift is clearly toward intelligent, digitally enabled machinery. At BEML, we have embraced this evolution wholeheartedly. Our equipment is now infused with IoT, AI-driven analytics, and advanced telematics, giving customers deeper operational insight and improving fleet performance.

Q. What are the standout elements of BEML’s participation at EXCON this year?

EXCON has always been an important showcase for us, but this year’s participation is particularly special. We have created a strong visual and technological impact with a 684 sq. m outdoor pavilion, one of our largest at the event. The space features our latest line-up of advanced construction equipment, each reflecting our progression toward high-performance, lowemission engineering.

Visitors can experience our modern crawler dozer, motor grader, wheel loader, backhoe loader, and hydraulic excavator equipment that incorporates next-generation BS-V–compliant engines. These engines are not just more efficient; they significantly reduce environmental footprint. Through our presence here, we are reinforcing BEML’s philosophy of delivering future-ready equipment that strengthens productivity, sustainability, and operational reliability for our customers, both in India and around the world.

Q. How are BEML’s products evolving in terms of efficiency, safety, and technology?

The mining and construction sectors are transforming quickly, and the shift is clearly toward intelligent, digitally enabled machinery. At BEML, we have embraced this evolution wholeheartedly. Our equipment is now infused with IoT, AI-driven analytics, and advanced telematics, giving customers deeper operational insight and improving fleet performance. We are integrating centralized monitoring systems inside operator cabins, fatigue monitoring solutions, automatic fire detection and suppression, and auto-lubrication systems. Built-in health diagnostics improve predictive maintenance, while ROPS/FOPS-certified cabins strengthen operator safety. Rear-view detection technologies, operator-assist features, and intuitive dashboards enhance visibility and decision-making.

These innovations are not incremental, they represent a leap toward smarter, safer, and more connected machinery tailored for modern infrastructure ecosystems.

Q. What trajectory do you foresee for the Indian construction and mining equipment industry over the next 3–5 years?

India is entering one of the most critical phases of its development journey. A massive wave of infrastructure projects – expressways, multimodal transport corridors, metros, greenfield industries, port modernization, irrigation systems, and smart cities are shaping unprecedented demand for construction and mining equipment.

On the mining front, the nation’s push for metals, minerals, and energy security will further accelerate the need for high- apacity machinery. Steel capacity is expanding, cement production is rising, and non-ferrous mining is scaling up to meet the needs of an industrialising economy.

BEML is fully aligned to support this national momentum. Our focus on indigenous design, deep localization, and high-quality manufacturing allows us to deliver products that match global standards while addressing India’s unique terrain, climatic conditions, and operational challenges. Our long-term strategy is firmly linked to India’s vision of becoming a fully developed economy— Viksit Bharat—by 2047.

Q. Decarbonisation has become a major theme globally. How do you view this shift in India’s MCE sector, and what is BEML doing in this space?

There is a clear, undeniable shift toward sustainability across industries. In India, decarbonisation is accelerating because of
advanced regulation, customer consciousness, and global commitments to climate goals. BEML has embraced this direction with a strong sense of responsibility. We have indigenously engineered India’s electrically powered excavators in the 100-ton and 180-ton segments—pioneering advancements that significantly cut emissions in high-load environments. Additionally, we are proud of India’s largest 21 cu. m electric rope shovel, designed and built entirely by BEML.

We are also upgrading our full equipment range with cleaner propulsion, higher efficiency, and BS-compliant engine systems. Internally, our operations are steadily transitioning to renewable energy, which strengthens our identity as a Green Company.
To complete the sustainability cycle, we support customers with simulator-based training, reskilling modules, and safe-operation programmes, ensuring that decarbonisation is not just about machines but about the entire ecosystem of usage, safety, and efficiency.

Q. How integral are innovation and R&D to BEML’s global competitiveness?

Innovation is the beating heart of BEML. It is the reason we have remained one of India’s most respected engineering organisations for decades. Our R&D centres are equipped with modern facilities and backed by highly experienced engineering teams who continually work to develop indigenous technology solutions.

Whether it is designing high-performance machines, improving operator ergonomics, reducing emissions, integrating digital
intelligence, or enhancing durability, our R&D contributes to every aspect of the product lifecycle. This innovation-driven culture also aligns strongly with the national mission of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, helping India build technological self-reliance in strategic sectors.

Q. With infrastructure expansion accelerating, how is BEML positioning itself to capitalise on this opportunity?

India’s construction equipment industry is now worth nearly ₹45,000 crore annually and growing steadily. To capture this momentum, we have established a dedicated Construction Strategic Business Unit (SBU). This structure gives us sharper focus, faster decision-making, and the ability to deliver market-responsive products.

We are reintroducing key products with upgraded performance and new-age features. Simultaneously, we are enhancing our
nationwide footprint through a strengthened dealer and service network, improving accessibility for customers across urban and remote regions. Internationally, we are actively entering new markets, leveraging our reputation, engineering strength, and robust product line. This dual approach, domestic reinforcement and global expansion positions BEML as a formidable player in the evolving construction equipment landscape.
