SANY and Holcim Ink Deal for 100 Electric Machines to Accelerate Global Decarbonisation

SANY Group to supply 100 electric construction and mining machines to Holcim for global decarbonisation and sustainability initiatives
SANY and Holcim sign a CHF 100 million deal to deploy 100 electric construction machines and 20 autonomous mining trucks, advancing global sustainability and low-carbon operations.

SANY Group and Holcim have signed a major agreement to deploy a 100-unit electric construction equipment fleet, marking a significant push toward decarbonising heavy construction and mining operations globally.

The agreement, structured as a Letter of Intent (LoI), outlines a procurement framework worth around CHF 100 million (approximately $126 million) over a five-year period. It focuses on the large-scale adoption of electric and autonomous construction technologies across Holcim’s global operations.

Under the deal, SANY will supply 100 units of electric machinery within the next three years, while also deploying 20 autonomous mining trucks over the next two years. These machines will be used across Holcim’s quarrying, aggregates, and construction sites, where electrification can significantly reduce emissions.

The collaboration builds on an existing partnership between the two companies that began in 2019, including pilot deployments of electric excavators and fleet solutions in Europe and Latin America. The success of these trials, particularly in terms of cost efficiency and total cost of ownership (TCO), has driven the scale-up of this initiative.

Beyond equipment supply, SANY will integrate digital fleet management systems, intelligent driving technologies, and automated dispatching solutions, enabling data-driven, efficient, and safer operations. These technologies are expected to enhance productivity, reduce manual intervention, and improve sustainability performance.

The deal aligns with Holcim’s “NextGen Growth 2030” strategy, which focuses on embedding low-carbon technologies, electrification, and automation across its operations to achieve long-term sustainability targets.

This partnership reflects a broader shift in the construction equipment industry toward electrified fleets and autonomous machinery, as companies move to meet net-zero commitments and stricter environmental regulations. It also highlights the growing role of advanced equipment manufacturers in shaping the future of sustainable construction and mining operations worldwide.
