₹126 crore Mundhwa flyover approved to improve traffic flow and urban mobility in Pune’s eastern corridor

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the construction of a ₹126 crore flyover at Mundhwa junction (Mahatma Phule Chowk), aiming to significantly reduce traffic congestion at one of the city’s busiest intersections.

The proposed flyover will span around 1.08 km and is designed to streamline traffic movement between key routes including Kharadi bypass, Mundhwa, Keshavnagar, and Tadigutta Chowk areas that currently experience heavy congestion, especially during peak hours.

Notably, the project has been planned in alignment with a proposed metro corridor, ensuring seamless integration of future urban transport infrastructure and avoiding design conflicts.

With no land acquisition required, the project is expected to move forward without major hurdles. The construction agency has already been finalized, and the flyover is likely to be completed within two years after work begins.

The approval comes in response to long-standing commuter demands, as the junction has been a major traffic bottleneck impacting daily travel time and connectivity in the rapidly developing eastern corridor of Pune.
This development is part of PMC’s broader push to upgrade urban mobility infrastructure, improve traffic flow, and support the city’s expanding residential and commercial zones.
