Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu jointly launched and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹47,600 crore during a landmark visit to Odisha, marking one of the largest infrastructure and development pushes undertaken in the state in recent years.
The projects span multiple sectors, including transportation, railways, roads, urban infrastructure, drinking water, irrigation, education, health care, industrial development and rural infrastructure. The investment package is aimed at accelerating economic growth, improving connectivity and strengthening public infrastructure across Odisha.
A key highlight of the visit was the focus on infrastructure creation and regional development, with several projects targeted at improving connectivity in both urban and rural areas. The initiatives are expected to support industrial expansion, facilitate trade and logistics activities, and enhance access to essential services for communities across the state.
The visit coincided with the second anniversary of the Odisha government led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The large-scale project rollout reflects the state’s ongoing efforts to attract investment and strengthen its position as a major destination for manufacturing, infrastructure and industrial development.
Several of the projects are expected to improve transportation networks and public utilities, while others focus on expanding educational facilities, healthcare infrastructure and water resource management systems. The package also includes initiatives aimed at supporting long-term economic activity and employment generation.
The joint presence of the President and the Prime Minister at the event was seen as a significant moment for Odisha, underscoring the importance of the state in the country’s broader development agenda.
