Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has highlighted the growing global trade and investment opportunities for Uttar Pradesh as India expands market access through Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).

Addressing the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Goyal said expanding exports, investments and access to international markets would support Uttar Pradesh’s objective of becoming a $1 trillion economy.

He said new investments are expected to come into India from across the world and noted that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as an investment destination, supported by its industrial policies and schemes. According to him, major companies and global investors are entering the state across sectors, creating opportunities for employment.

Goyal also pointed to the role of modern technology, international companies and the evolving craftsmanship and technical capabilities of Uttar Pradesh’s youth in the state’s development. He said international events such as the trade show provide businesses with direct exposure to global markets and help take the state’s products, cuisines and services to international buyers.

The UP International Trade Show has attracted participation from six partner countries, along with hundreds of delegates and exhibitors. Buyer-seller meetings and participation by international stakeholders are providing businesses with opportunities to explore new markets and commercial partnerships.

Goyal highlighted the development of expressways, modern airports and industrial parks across Uttar Pradesh. He also pointed to the state’s expanding presence in sectors such as defence, semiconductors, electronics and other high-technology industries.

He referred to the expansion of a large robotics manufacturing facility in Greater Noida as an example of the state’s growing industrial and technology base.

According to Goyal, the next phase of Uttar Pradesh’s development will involve expanding exports into global markets, attracting international investments, strengthening tourism and building global recognition for products and brands originating from the state.

Uttar Pradesh currently records annual exports of around ₹2 lakh crore and has set a target of increasing this figure to ₹5 lakh crore by 2030.

Goyal said wider global market access through FTAs, increased investment, tourism and international recognition of Uttar Pradesh’s products and brands could open further opportunities for the state’s entrepreneurs. He also called for greater participation from the state’s trade and industrial community.

He stressed the importance of coordination between the Central and state governments, along with the participation of citizens, youth and stakeholders from the trade and industrial sectors, in supporting Uttar Pradesh’s export and economic growth.
