Patel Engineering Ltd has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a major civil construction package worth ₹910 crore related to the Renukaji Dam project in Himachal Pradesh, officials said on Wednesday.
The contract pertains to a specific construction package under the broader Renukaji multipurpose project, which encompasses the development of irrigation, hydropower and water supply infrastructure near the Renuka Lake area in Sirmaur district.
Patel Engineering’s L1 status follows the competitive tendering process conducted by the project authorities. As the lowest qualified bidder, the company will now be considered for award of the contract subject to standard approvals, statutory clearances and finalisation of contractual formalities.
The Renukaji Dam initiative is being developed with the aim of enhancing irrigation potential, ensuring drinking water availability for nearby towns and villages, and contributing to regional economic development. The dam’s reservoir and ancillary structures are expected to benefit agriculture, industry and communities in the surrounding catchment area once completed.
Officials said the award of the ₹910 crore package to Patel Engineering will bolster the project’s construction momentum and support the government’s focus on expanding critical water infrastructure in the Himalayan state.
Patel Engineering Ltd, a national construction and infrastructure developer, has executed numerous large-scale civil works projects across sectors including dams, hydroelectric facilities, roads and urban infrastructure. Its participation in the Renukaji Dam project underscores its capabilities in executing complex geotechnical and structural works in challenging terrains.
Following the L1 declaration, the next phase involves technical and financial bid evaluations, contract negotiation and issuance of the letter of award. Construction is expected to commence after all pre-construction clearances and mobilisations are completed.
