Oriental Foundry Private Limited, the wholly owned subsidiary of Oriental Rail Infrastructure Limited, has secured a ₹9.26 crore contract from the South East Central Railway, a zone of Indian Railways, to manufacture and supply specialised wagon components.
According to a regulatory filing made on December 23, the order was awarded through an Indian Railways e-tender and calls for 2,460 units of upgraded high-capacity draft gears designed for BOXNHL and BCNHL freight wagons, key parts used in wagon coupling and buffering systems.
The contract is scheduled for execution by October 31, 2026, and provides 100 % payment against online Consignment Receipt Note (CRN), giving the company clear visibility on cash flows during the production and delivery phase.
The company emphasised that neither the promoter nor the promoter group has any interest in the entity awarding the contract, and that the order does not qualify as a related-party transaction under regulatory norms. This order further strengthens Oriental Foundry’s presence in the domestic railway component manufacturing sector.
Draft gears are critical safety and operational components in freight wagons, absorbing kinetic forces during train movement and coupling, and the “upgraded high-capacity” specification reflects enhanced engineering requirements tailored to modern freight operations.
This contract adds to Oriental Rail Infrastructure’s growing order book of railway supply contracts, indicating continued demand from Indian Railways for specialised wagon parts amid ongoing efforts to modernise and expand freight infrastructure.
