Noida International Airport in Jewar prepares for March 28 launch, set to boost NCR aviation capacity

The much-awaited Noida International Airport is set for a March 28, 2026 launch, with the Uttar Pradesh government inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the mega aviation project.

The airport, located in Jewar, is poised to become a major aviation hub for the National Capital Region, significantly easing congestion at Delhi’s existing airport and boosting regional connectivity.

The project has already received its aerodrome licence from DGCA, clearing the final regulatory hurdle and enabling the start of commercial operations. Initial services are expected to begin with domestic flights and cargo operations, followed by international routes in later phases.

In its first phase, the airport will operate with one runway and a passenger handling capacity of around 12 million annually, with plans to scale up significantly in subsequent phases.

The development is being seen as a game-changer for infrastructure, logistics, tourism, and industrial growth across Uttar Pradesh and the NCR region. It has already begun attracting airlines, MRO investments, and industrial activity, reinforcing its role as a future economic catalyst.

With world-class infrastructure, strategic location, and strong policy backing, the Jewar airport is expected to redefine air travel dynamics in North India, while strengthening India’s position in global aviation.
