Navi Mumbai International Airport completes final readiness checks ahead of its commercial flight launch scheduled for December 25, 2025.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has completed its final operational readiness reviews and is fully prepared to begin commercial flight operations from 25 December 2025, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure development.

Officials say the airport has successfully concluded a series of Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) trials, where live simulations tested key airport functions including check-in, security screening, boarding procedures, baggage handling and emergency responses. These rigorous exercises involved volunteers acting as passengers to replicate real-world travel scenarios, allowing teams to fine-tune processes and address potential issues well ahead of the launch.

NMIA, developed to supplement the busy Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and ease growing air traffic in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, will begin operations with a phased rollout. In the initial phase, it is expected to handle a limited number of flights in a controlled schedule, with capacity expanded over time as systems stabilise.

In a bid to enhance passenger experience, the airport will introduce a digital-first communication platform supported by free high-speed Wi-Fi. Travellers connecting to the network will receive real-time updates on flight status, boarding gates, schedules and other travel information via the Adani OneApp, which functions as a virtual guide throughout their journey.

Security arrangements have also been fortified, with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) deployed to manage safety and security operations across the airport campus as it moves into commercial service.

Once fully operational, NMIA is expected to significantly boost regional connectivity, spur economic activity and provide a modern, efficient gateway for passengers travelling within India and beyond.
