Q. Can you tell us more about the newly launched products showcased by Tata Hitachi at EXCON 2025?
At EXCON 2025, we have showcased the AX90-890, which is our latest launch. Prior to this, we had introduced the AX90-490, a model that has already proven its performance in the market, and the AX90-890 further strengthens our portfolio.
In addition to this, we are presenting two concept electric excavators. One is a battery-powered excavator in the 3-ton class, and the other is a tethered electric excavator in the 20-ton class. Apart from machines, we are also showcasing a wide range of new attachments. To complement this, we have set up a dedicated demo zone, where customers can see these attachments in live operation, understand how they function, and explore how they can be used across various applications.
Q. The rental segment is gaining importance in the industry. Could you share Tata Hitachi’s role and presence in this segment?
The rental segment is indeed a significant focus area for Tata Hitachi. Currently, more than 150 mini machines are deployed in the rental market, enabling us to offer customers a distinct and reliable service experience. As an organized player, we provide formal billing, which adds transparency and professionalism for customers. All rental machines are maintained by Tata Hitachi, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime. Since the equipment is owned and managed by us, we have in-depth knowledge of every machine, allowing us to ensure proper servicing and optimal machine health throughout the rental period.
Q. Customer satisfaction has always been a strong pillar for Tata Hitachi. Could you elaborate on your end-to-end sales and service support?
Tata Hitachi has been doing end-to-end service and support operations for more than 20 years. We pioneered the Full Maintenance Contract (FMC), which is not only positioning our engineers and spare parts on site but also providing guaranteed machine uptime for those under FMC. In the mining segment, we brought FMC over 20 years ago, and now we are bringing that concept into construction as well.
We offer a full range of services, from basic annual service contracts to site maintenance contracts and full maintenance contracts. We are having one of the best networks of workshops at our dealerships, which are not only refurbishing components and giving service facilities, they are also refurbishing entire machines.
We give customers the option to sell back their machines. We refurbish the equipment under our supervision and then provide warranty on those machines. So, it is a full cycle that we have gotten ourselves into, where customers can get the full range of services according to their needs. If they want a vanilla service setup, they have a service contract, and if they want a full liner kind of support and setup, then they can either use a rental, use used equipment, or have a full maintenance contract. So, all gamut of services are available to support our customers.
Q. EXCON has become the backbone of the construction equipment industry. What has your experience been like at EXCON so far?
Tata Hitachi is proud to be one of the founding members of EXCON, which began in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Since then, we have been a consistent and committed supporter of this exhibition.
Over the years, EXCON has witnessed steady growth with increasing footfall, expanding exhibition areas, a growing number of machines on display, and rising customer engagement. Our own presence at EXCON has also expanded year after year. This consistent growth reflects the importance of EXCON for the industry, and Tata Hitachi will continue to remain a major and active participant at EXCON, as we always have.
