Badwah–Dhamnod four-lane highway project approved by Madhya Pradesh Cabinet worth ₹2,508 crore to boost Narmada and Malwa region connectivity
Madhya Pradesh Cabinet clears ₹2,508 crore for upgrading the Badwah–Dhamnod road into a four-lane highway under the Hybrid Annuity Model.

The Madhya Pradesh government has approved a major infrastructure investment of ₹2,508.21 crore to convert the existing Badwah–Dhamnod road into a four-lane highway, significantly improving connectivity in the Narmada and Malwa regions.

The 62.795-kilometre corridor will be widened and upgraded under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), with work covering land acquisition, expansion, and construction. The project scope includes 10 bypasses, five major bridges, 23 medium bridges, 12 vehicular underpasses, and several junction enhancements to facilitate smoother traffic flow and safer travel.

Designed to strengthen linkages between two national highways, this upgrade aims to support regional economic activity, speed up goods and passenger movement, and enhance overall road safety. Under HAM financing, 40 % of the cost will be borne by the State Highway Fund initially, with the remaining 60 % payable through annuity disbursements over the operational phase.

The cabinet’s decision reflects the state’s continued focus on modernising transport infrastructure and supporting long-term mobility improvements that can boost trade and accessibility across central India.
