Preparations for Simhastha 2028 have gathered momentum with the Madhya Pradesh government and Indian Railways advancing a series of rail infrastructure projects aimed at handling the massive influx of pilgrims expected during the religious congregation in Ujjain. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the ongoing expansion of railway infrastructure will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless connectivity and efficient passenger movement during the event.
Among the key initiatives are the development of new railway stations, expansion of passenger amenities and capacity enhancement works on major rail corridors serving Ujjain, Indore and Bhopal. The Chief Minister noted that these projects are being implemented to strengthen regional connectivity while creating infrastructure that will continue to benefit passengers long after Simhastha concludes.
Yadav highlighted the rapid pace of railway modernisation in the state, stating that improved rail infrastructure is essential to accommodate the expected surge in pilgrim traffic. He also emphasised the importance of coordinated planning between the state government and the Ministry of Railways to ensure timely completion of projects linked to the event.
Simhastha 2028 is expected to attract millions of devotees from across India and abroad, making transport infrastructure a key focus area for the state. Alongside railway expansion, Madhya Pradesh is investing in roads, urban infrastructure and civic facilities to support one of the country’s largest religious gatherings and enhance long-term connectivity across the region.
