Karnataka Minister M B Patil on Monday handed over India’s first indigenously manufactured runway cleaning vehicles to Noida International Airport Limited. The machines were developed by Bengaluru-based Anlon Technology Solutions Limited, an engineering firm that produces high-value infrastructure equipment.

Officials said these vehicles are the first of their kind made in India and have been built under the Government of India’s “Make in India” initiative in collaboration with Switzerland-based Bucher Municipal. They were assembled at Anlon’s facility in Adinarayanahosahalli near Doddaballapur in Karnataka.

Keys for two of the vehicles were formally handed to Pradeep Rana, a representative of Noida International Airport. According to the minister’s office, the machines are designed to remove nails and sharp metal fragments from runway surfaces, a safety measure to protect aircraft tyres. They also vacuum dust and clear algae, which can otherwise increase the risk of aircraft skidding during landings and takeoffs.

Minister Patil described companies like Anlon, which also manufactures street-sweeping vehicles, as critical to the industrial supply chain. He encouraged the firm to use supportive government policies and Karnataka’s industrial ecosystem to pursue export opportunities for the new runway cleaning vehicles. He added that the state’s Industrial Policy (2025–30) will provide targeted assistance and incentives for quality certification to such companies.
