India Launches PRISM-SG Portal to Cut ROB Approval Time to 3–4 Months

PRISM SG portal for Road Over Bridge approvals in India to reduce approval time and digitise infrastructure processes
PRISM-SG portal launched to speed up ROB approvals and digitise infrastructure workflows.

The Government of India has launched the PRISM-SG portal, a digital platform aimed at significantly reducing the approval time for Road Over Bridge (ROB) projects from nearly 12 months to just 3–4 months.

Developed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the portal-Portal for Rail-Road Inspection & Stages Management (Steel Girders) is designed to streamline and digitise the entire approval and inspection process associated with ROB construction.

Currently, ROB projects require multiple approvals from Indian Railways, including General Arrangement Drawings (GAD), structural designs, quality assurance plans, and fabrication inspections. Many of these processes have traditionally been handled offline, leading to delays, coordination gaps, and limited real-time tracking.

The PRISM-SG portal addresses these challenges by creating a single integrated digital interface that connects all stakeholders road agencies, Indian Railways, contractors, fabricators, and inspection bodies.

Through this system, users can carry out end-to-end online processes, including document submission, scrutiny, query resolution, approval workflows, scheduling of inspections, and uploading of reports, photographs, and test results. The platform also enables real-time monitoring and maintains a complete audit trail, improving transparency and accountability.

By eliminating manual processes and improving coordination, the initiative is expected to accelerate project execution, reduce delays, and enhance efficiency in infrastructure delivery.

The launch of PRISM-SG marks a key step toward digitising infrastructure approvals in India, with the potential to ensure timely completion of road over bridges and strengthen overall connectivity across the country.
