India is accelerating its port-led infrastructure growth with 33 strategic road projects worth over ₹27,700 crore. As part of the Sagarmala Programme, these projects aim to strengthen last-mile connectivity between major ports and hinterland regions, enabling faster cargo movement, reducing logistics costs, and improving overall trade efficiency.

Of the total projects, 11 have been completed at a cost of ₹4,085 crore, significantly easing congestion around key maritime hubs. An additional 22 projects worth ₹23,658 crore are under implementation, focusing on integrating ports with modern road and rail networks.

The enhanced infrastructure will boost India’s competitiveness in global trade, facilitate quicker turnaround for shipping and logistics, and open up new industrial growth corridors in coastal and inland areas. Once completed, these upgraded port connectivity routes are expected to play a crucial role in supporting India’s export-import growth and strengthening its position in the global maritime economy.
