Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed officials to expedite construction work on the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) being developed near Maharaja Agrasen International Airport in Hisar, with the project expected to give a fresh push to industrial and economic activity in the region.
The Chief Minister issued the directions while reviewing the progress of major development projects under the State Pragati Portal. During the meeting, officials briefed him on the status of the IMC and related airport infrastructure.
Work is progressing on the first phase of the project, covering 1,578 acres of land. The government already has 100 per cent of the land required for the project, while environmental clearance has also been obtained. The tender for construction work has been floated and the evaluation and selection of bids is at an advanced stage, following which construction work will commence.
The IMC is planned as a large multi-sector industrial hub and will include infrastructure for defence and aerospace, agro-food processing, and garment and textile industries. The development will also have a Skill Development Centre, Convention Centre and Exhibition Hall, Logistics Park and a Multi-Speciality Hospital.
Infrastructure linked to the airport is also being developed alongside the manufacturing cluster. This includes water supply facilities for the airport and a 220-kV power substation. The development is intended to create the basic infrastructure required to support industrial units and other facilities planned within the cluster.
The Hisar IMC is being developed under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor in collaboration with the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC). The overall project is spread across 2,988 acres and has an estimated project cost of ₹4,680 crore, with an investment potential of ₹32,417 crore and employment potential of around 1.25 lakh jobs.
Strategically located near the airport and along important road and rail links, the cluster is expected to benefit from connectivity through NH-52 and NH-09, besides its proximity to the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors. The location is also intended to strengthen logistics access for industries coming up in the region.
Saini has directed officials to ensure that there is no delay in construction activities and that the quality of the work is not compromised. He has also called for provisions within the IMC for sectors such as aerospace, the Army corridor and medical activities, while reviewing the requirements related to Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations at Hisar Airport.
The Haryana government has been positioning the Hisar airport and the adjoining manufacturing cluster as part of a broader aviation and industrial development ecosystem. The combination of airport infrastructure, manufacturing facilities and logistics connectivity is expected to strengthen Hisar’s role as an emerging industrial destination in the state.
