The Himachal Pradesh government has approved ₹137.4 crore for the upgradation of the Chail Chowk–Janjehli road in Mandi district, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced during a visit to the region.
The project will cover the widening and improvement of the road corridor connecting Chail Chowk and Janjehli, an important route serving several rural and tourism-oriented areas in Mandi district. The upgrade is aimed at improving road conditions, enhancing travel safety and strengthening connectivity for residents of the region.
According to the Chief Minister, the project forms part of the state’s broader efforts to improve infrastructure in remote and hilly areas. Better road connectivity is expected to facilitate easier movement of people and goods while supporting economic activities, agriculture and tourism in the area.
Janjehli, known for its scenic landscape and tourism potential, has witnessed growing visitor interest in recent years. The road improvement project is expected to provide more reliable access to the destination and adjoining villages, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
During the visit, the Chief Minister also reviewed ongoing development works in the constituency and reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure across rural Himachal Pradesh. He said road connectivity remains a key focus area for the state government, especially in regions where terrain poses significant construction and maintenance challenges.
The approved funding will be used for road widening, strengthening and other associated civil works required to upgrade the corridor. Once completed, the project is expected to improve transportation links within Mandi district and enhance access to important social, economic and tourism centres in the region.
The Chail Chowk–Janjehli road project is among several infrastructure initiatives being undertaken by the state government to improve connectivity and support balanced regional development across Himachal Pradesh.
