HBL Engineering Limited has received a major order worth ₹575 crore from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of on-board KAVACH systems (Version 4.0). The contract value includes applicable taxes and will be executed over a period of 12 months.
The order involves deployment of the latest version of the KAVACH automatic train protection system, an indigenous safety technology developed to prevent train collisions, control overspeeding and enhance overall operational safety on the railway network. The system is a key component of Indian Railways’ broader plan to modernise train operations and strengthen passenger safety using advanced signalling and control solutions.
All activities under the contract will be carried out domestically, in line with the government’s push for locally developed railway technologies. HBL Engineering stated that the contract does not fall under related-party transactions and that neither the company’s promoters nor promoter-group entities have any financial or business interest in the awarding authority.
This order further reinforces HBL Engineering’s position in the railway safety and signalling segment and adds significant visibility to its order book, as Indian Railways accelerates the rollout of KAVACH systems across passenger and freight corridors.
