Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth a combined ₹583.85 crore in Ahmedabad on September 24.
The projects, taken up by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), include road and bridge infrastructure, housing, drainage, public transport facilities, emergency services and heritage development. Of the total, six projects worth ₹279.80 crore were inaugurated, while foundation stones were laid for another six projects estimated at ₹304.05 crore.
Among the major projects inaugurated was a four-lane flyover at Vadaj Junction in Ahmedabad’s West Zone. Developed by the AMC’s Bridge Project Department, the flyover has been constructed at a cost of ₹127.92 crore.
A four-lane railway overbridge at Level Crossing-24 on the Ahmedabad-Botad railway line was also inaugurated in the South-West Zone. The project involved an investment of ₹98.60 crore and is aimed at improving connectivity across the railway line.
The inaugurated works also include 329 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) houses at TP-39, Thaltej, developed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at a cost of ₹22.24 crore. The houses form part of a larger development of 1,190 EWS homes at the site.
For emergency response services, 15 First Response Vehicles were provided to Ahmedabad fire stations at a cost of ₹19.74 crore. Ten engine-equipped boats were also added to the fire stations at an investment of ₹3.40 crore. A rehabilitation project comprising 108 houses and 46 shops at the existing Pakhajino Kuvo slum area in Shahibaug was completed at a cost of ₹7.90 crore.
Among the projects receiving foundation stones, a road network will be developed in the Ramapir Tekra LAP area of Stadium Ward in the West Zone at a cost of ₹72.78 crore.
In Amraiwadi, the existing 1,800 mm-diameter drainage line from Nagarvel Hanuman Temple to Guruji Bridge will be rehabilitated under a ₹65.51 crore project. Another ₹61.81 crore project involves the development of a new drainage pumping station and rising line at Navana in Vatva.
An AMTS/BRTS electric-bus charging station and parking facility will be developed at TP-110 in the Nikol-Kathwada area at a cost of ₹61.89 crore. A separate ₹28.08 crore project will provide infrastructure for a bus depot and terminus, including bus parking and a charging station, near the SP Ring Road in the North-West Zone.
The AMC Heritage Department will also develop a Tourism Temple Circuit along the eastern bank of the Sabarmati River. The ₹13.98 crore project will connect Saptarishi Ashram, Jagannath Temple and Atal Ghat.
The projects were taken up under the ongoing Seva Sankalp Samarpan Abhiyan and cover a mix of transport, civic and public-service infrastructure across Ahmedabad.
