Gujarat Approves ₹629 Crore for Four-Laning of Six Roads in Kutch

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved ₹629 crore for the upgradation of six key roads in Kutch district into four-lane corridors, further strengthening road connectivity in one of the state’s strategically important regions.

The approved projects cover a combined length of around 88 km and are aimed at accommodating increasing traffic volumes while improving connectivity between industrial, commercial, tourism, and border areas of Kutch.

The sanctioned works include the four-laning of the Mundra–Naredi road, the Mundra Port–Shiracha road, the Bhuj–Nakhatrana road, the Mankuva–Bhujpur road, the Bhujpur–Mundra road, and the Mundra Bypass corridor. These routes serve as important links connecting ports, industrial zones, urban centres, and logistics hubs across the district.

Kutch has witnessed rapid industrial growth over the years, particularly around the Mundra region, which houses major port and logistics infrastructure. The increasing movement of cargo vehicles and passenger traffic has created a need for wider and more efficient road networks.

The four-laning programme is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion on existing routes, and provide better connectivity to ports and industrial clusters that play a significant role in Gujarat’s economy.

The approval forms part of the state government’s broader focus on strengthening transport infrastructure in Kutch, a district that has emerged as a major centre for ports, manufacturing, renewable energy projects, logistics activities, and cross-border trade.

The upgraded corridors will enhance connectivity between coastal areas, industrial estates, and key economic centres while supporting the movement of goods through Gujarat’s port-led development network.

The latest investment adds to the ongoing infrastructure expansion across Gujarat, where road, port, rail, and industrial connectivity projects continue to receive significant attention to support economic growth and regional development.
