Government approves ₹6,969 crore NH-927 highway project to improve connectivity between Barabanki and Bahraich

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved a ₹6,969 crore project to develop a four-lane access-controlled stretch of National Highway-927 in Uttar Pradesh, marking a major boost to regional connectivity and infrastructure.

The project will upgrade a ~101.5 km corridor between Barabanki and Bahraich, significantly improving connectivity across key districts and linking the route to Nepal border regions, enhancing cross-border trade and mobility.

Developed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), the highway will include bypasses and service roads to ease congestion in populated areas while improving safety and travel efficiency.

Once completed, the corridor is expected to reduce travel time between Barabanki and Bahraich to nearly one hour, while also improving fuel efficiency and lowering vehicle operating costs.
The project will also enhance connectivity to towns such as Ramnagar, Jarwal, Kaisarganj, and Bahraich, while integrating with regional rail and airport networks to strengthen overall transport infrastructure.

Beyond connectivity, the development is expected to generate over 79 lakh person-days of employment, contributing to economic growth and regional development.

This strategic highway upgrade is set to play a key role in improving logistics efficiency, boosting trade, and strengthening connectivity between northern Uttar Pradesh and neighboring regions.
